In the present economic period, keeping your job becomes one of your highest priorities. It has been quite some time since this task has been as important as it is now. Keeping your job must now become a priority activity. In fact it should become your highest priority.

You need to convince them that you like them because of their good traits. Most people have both good and bad traits. Like their good traits and ignore the bad traits. Another way to gain friendship is to be helpful to your fellow workers and your boss.

In your present relations with your fellow workers and the boss, remember that if you are patient and treat them as friends, they will eventually become your friends.

It is important to be liked because it improves the odds that you will NOT be chosen to be laid off during a business down turn.

Seek to make yourself indispensable within your department. Set the example for the others by what you do and how you do it. Let your work performance become a model for others to follow.

You can become indispensable by learning how to do other jobs within your department. This demonstrates a “can do” attitude, and in that way you can fill in for someone who is absent. This shows management how valuable you are to the organization.

The more skills which you demonstrate the more value you provide to the organization. Professional knowledge is a very important addition to your work skills. You should obtain as much of it as is possible for you to achieve. Many professions have schools or educational programs which teach courses on work related subjects. Sign up for as many of these as is possible. Some organizations will pay the course costs. If your enterprise has such a program, be sure and take advantage of it.

You will find your local Junior College an excellent place to look for courses which can improve your professional knowledge. For example, accounting is the language of business. As such, everyone should have knowledge of accounting. Your local Junior College will offer a number of accounting courses.

Keep in mind that the better your professional knowledge, the more prepared you are for other positions either within your enterprise or in another one.

It is also important to develop a positive relationship with your supervisor. If you are presently at odds with that person take the time and effort to change that to a positive relationship. During the day, make the effort to do little tedious tasks that the supervisor has to do each day for them. Be cooperative when asked to do something extra.

Don’t forget to create good relationships with your fellow workers. Their good will is invaluable. Find out what their interests are and then learn some thing about the interest so that you can carry on conversations with them.

A good way to improve your knowledge of your job is to go to your local library and read up on the subject. You can also go online to become better informed. The more that you learn, the better prepared you are to deal with unexpected situations. For example, if you have a working knowledge of first aid you can put that knowledge to good use if some one is slightly injured at work or even at home.

As you learn more and develop better relationships with your fellow workers, you will also improve your own self confidence. This improvement in your self esteem, will be noticed by those around you. It will make you some one who others will want to have as a friend. This is obviously to your benefit.

Always remember that work is just that work. It is not a hobby and there will be some parts of what you do that are not fun. It is very important that you not let the unpleasant aspects of your work adversely affect your attitude. This attitude problem is one which is easy to fall into. It is a serious mistake to let this happen however.

It is important to keep in mind that the work that you do allows you to lead the lifestyle that you have and as such is a key aspect of your life. Poor attitudes about your job can affect your morale and are noticed by others. You need to rid yourself of them. You need to consciously work on developing and maintaining a positive attitude about your job.

In order to have a positive attitude about your job, it is quite helpful to have a positive attitude about yourself. The foundation for a good attitude toward your self is to have high esteem. High self esteem is something that you have control over. You can improve your self esteem by the things that you do.
